President's Message

Robotic surgery in Japan has evolved tremendously since its introduction in 2000. Especially in recent years, the possibilities have expanded dramatically through technological innovations in surgical robots and their integration with AI and other digital technologies. Beyond the extension of endoscopic surgery, Robotic surgery is about to enter a truly new stage.

As of 2025, Japan will have not only the da Vinci Surgical System (Intuitive Surgical, Inc., USA), but also the Hugo Robotic-assisted Surgery System (Medtronic, Inc., USA), the domestically produced hinotori Surgical Robot System (Medicaloid Corp.), and Saroa Surgical System (Riverfield Inc.), and new surgical robots are expected to appear in the future. Robotic surgery is becoming increasingly important in the medical field, and with it, issues such as ensuring safety and medical economics must also be addressed.

The Japan Robotic Surgery Society, established in 2007, has been making efforts to improve the safety and dissemination of robotic surgery, to develop technologies, and to foster human resources. In 2025, we will establish a cooperative framework with the Society of Robotic Surgery (SRS), American society for robotic surgery, and aim to expand our activities internationally.

We will make further efforts to meet the expectations of our members, medical professionals, and patients. We look forward to your continued support and cooperation.
